About our kitchen plinths

Kitchen plinths allow you to cover the space underneath your cupboards. this means there are no gaps or openings on show, giving a continuous, streamlined appearance. As well as providing finish, plinths can be used to introduce a subtle hint of colour that will complement individual taste and style and create a stunning look.

Our plinth come and standard straight options, or curved. With curved options, you can select M2M options and tell us about your preferred height.

The 2 main styles of kitchen plinth are recessed and face fitting. Recessed plinths are sat back by about 2 inches from the front of the kitchen doors. Whilst face fitting plinths are fixed to the front of the kitchen framework. These are used more for traditional shaker type doors. Just as cornices and pelmets can finish off the upper part of a units nicely. The plinth finishes off the base unit doors. Generally, end panels and plinths are necessary for most kitchen designs and add that finishing touch. They also do a very good job of keeping dust and muck from falling under the units and hiding the edges of flooring.

Kitchen plinths are usually made from the same material that the cabinet fronts are made from, so everything matches. If the cabinets are painted MDF, generally the plinth material is also painted MDF. You can use different materials, such as plywood, aluminium or solid wood. At Dixon Doors you can have virtually any finish and material to finish your special design.

Yes, you can replace Plinths. We supply quite a few plinths because of water damage and general wear and tear. They are the protection for your cabinets which are usually off the floor and less prone to wear and tear.

The standard height of a modern kitchen plinth is normally 150mm high and in lengths up to 3000 mm long. This isn’t the case with Dixon Doors. As long as we can source the material, You can have any height and length you want.

To give your kitchen a seamless fitted look, it needs to be finished with the addition of kitchen plinths. Also known as kitchen kickboards, they fill what would otherwise be an unsightly gap between the bottom of your cupboards and the floor and hiding kitchen legs, floor edging etc.

A kitchen plinth seal is designed to provide effective protection against water and dirt from sneaking under the plinths. It comes in white, black, and colours, but the translucent one will not be noticeable.

You can get a plastic strip to go on the bottom edge of the plinth, it will prevent crumbs and spills getting underneath and also prevents the plinths being damaged by water absorption when you wet-mop the kitchen floor

Should there be a gap between the top of the kitchen plinth and under the cupboard?2023-05-25T08:10:07+00:00

It’s usual to leave a small gap of around 10 mm between the plinth and the bottom of the base cabinets. This is for ease of removing and getting access to the cabinets underneath.
